

I would hope that abstraction layer would make it easier to change provider/drivers with minimal code changes.Īs I mentioned in my post, SqlClient is the way to go in. I can't speak to Delphi as I haven't touched it for many years but I recall it included a rich set of database components. I'm glad to see you're still into SQL Server. It sounds like I will have plenty of time to get them updated, but I really do not look forward to explaining to clients that an update will be required for something they get no perceivable benefit from, but yet for something that could potentially introduce new bugs/issues.

I found this announcement a bit concerning since I have quite a few applications written that use SQLNCLI native-client driver in use (both Delphi applications and DotNet/c# apps and websites). Hey Dan, long time since we worked together, but nice to see you are still heavy into SQL-Server as am I.
